The US economy created 287,000 in June, rebounding strongly from disappointing jobs growth in May, official figures showed.

The Labor Department revised down May’s already weak first estimate of 38,000 to just 11,000.

The unemployment rate, which is derived from a different data set, rose to 4.9% from 4.7%.

The change in that rate reflects a rise in the number of people registering that they are looking for work.
